 | pacmania-the epic tale of a new life for darts - part 3 |
dart_talker writes "Soon after “Pacmaina-I” the word was the there was to be a “Pacmania-II” and the prize would be $100,000 (a quote from an sewa-darts.com member – “Manny ... will be backing another for $100.000.00 over the June 19-21 weekend in LA”) in hopes that this tournament would attract top darting talent from around the world! The excitement was intense! However when the dates were announced it was clear that there was a conflict with several major world darting events:

There may have been more that were in conflict, but I was not aware of them. Still the excitement continued to build, and plans were made by players and organizers alike. Again Rhen Fuentes (Pacific Darts Association) and Michelle Fuentes would lead the organizational team. They immediately remedied the space issue by securing the Burbank Marriott Hotel and Convention Center as the host venue. Almost every aspect of the facility was excellent, as was the quality of the tournament room, guest rooms, and their amenities and service left little (outside of getting a consistent Internet connection in the tournament hall) to be desired. There is a great deal to be said about how the behind the scenes logistics were managed, but that would make this story twice as long as it already is so let’s just say that a hearty thank you is sent out to Bryan Gosser of the Ventura County Dart Association (www.vcda.org) for providing stands (that he personally designed and built) sufficient to support 24 dartboards and the Championship Board Setup on which almost all of the final matches were played, and to the to the Dart Shop that provided another 12 dartboard stands. Bob and Maggie Martell who did a magnificent job in the role of Tournament Directors (http://www.tournamentdarts.homestead.com/) and John Baxter of www.a-zdarts.com who provided the 48+ that were used throughout the tournament, dartboards and was the tournament Dart Vendor (http://www.justin.tv/clip/20becbb42ccd6c6a).
