Tonight I threw five 7-marks in RTW and only made 80...not a record for me. Talk about a choke and waste! Smile

I hate that! I've done it more than I care to admit in various practice games...just nailing the mark over and over and over and then something happens and I get pissed and the scores drop...ya, gotta work past it.

Yeah, I've definitely had rounds on track for greatness...and got tight. But this one was weird in that the 7-marks were more or less spaced out through the round. Just really mediocre turns in between Smile

    94! Very Happy

I was really cranking them out until the 13 then I slowed a bit and finished with 94 but I was at 63 on the 12! A lot of 5's and 7's and a 9 got me there but I fell off after that...I've been on the wire a lot lately so I KNOW I can do better since I slacked off badly on the cricket numbers.

Usually my problem is a great start and good numbers leading to what could be a record and then I get that "wow I'm really hitting" feeling and it goes away LOL....it did just now but I was so far up it was hard not to break 90 and my old record was only around 80.

It's interesting...I don't usually track my running results because i feel it's a distraction. But I still know if I'm close to a record and that puts on pressure for sure.

Ok...I think I'm feeling more of the adrenaline drop than I do after a big match I win... Just got 95 in RTW (previous best was 83). 2 9-marks. 3 7-marks. 1 6-mark and 5 5-marks. I may as well never play that one again. At least until I'm an 80 ppr player. Smile I threw the two 9-marks on the 4 and 5...so the game was on early. I was so excited I went and told my wife (who tries to care...sweetly)...and remembered the number wrong as 90. Didn't realize it was 95 until I went back to my spreadsheet to figure out the various marks for this post. Wow.

Oh sure, one up me! Wink

I count RTW as I go so I know where I'm at and how I'm doing. At this point I see no need to increase that one either Wink It's one of those practice games that a high score in is good but not the same, to me, as 100@20's (or bulls) or CCU etc...and for steel players the doubles games are VERY important.

My biggest issue with all the games is something I may need to create a new practice game for and that's consistency.

I still remember a CCU where I hit three 9-counts AND completely missed three numbers... Rolling Eyes

Throughout any of these games it seems I have periods of hitting the right stuff then completely missing the target (typically filling the bed next door though, sometimes, I get a weird tug on my arm and the dart goes three numbers over! Shocked ).

The one thing I've noticed over the decades, is that the "bad" games for the top players really aren't all that bad. I can literally go from an 8-dart DIDO 301 leg to being skunked in 30 darts...

Someday I WILL figure this out (I now have some clues why and how to fix it - if I just get some time to work on it!), then WATCH OUT! Twisted Evil

Craig, I think we all struggle with consistency in our own different ways. For me it's not as often turn by turn....but a little longer cycles where I feel it and don't. When I'm feeling it, it's almost certain that every dart is going to hit or be very close to the target...whatever the target. When I'm not feeling it, I have very little "touch" and my brain is overworking. It happens more in practice than in competition fortunately.

When I'm practicing, I allow many thoughts to enter my head and sometimes am trying to "fix" too many things at once. In competition, I try really hard to only have one "swing thought" at a time (i.e. something I want to make sure I'm doing....maybe a "fix"). When I'm throwing really well, I don't need much of any swing thoughts.

Maybe consistency is more about longer periods of good and shorter periods of bad...and getting back to good quicker.
