    Dastardly Deeds in Darts
One angry man brings Southern California Darts Association to its knees
By Chris Vogel Thursday, Feb 2 2012

It's not easy to piss off a bunch of beer-guzzling darts players. On the whole, the barroom sport, popular in Los Angeles locales like Hollywood, Santa Monica and Woodland Hills, tends to attract mild-mannered, blue-collar guys, artists and musicians — people with sure hands and a hearty sense of humor who don't really give a damn.

It's a story that needed telling, and the sad part is that it isn't over yet... the case continues...

Please tell me that this is a prank newspaper article. If it's not. Well, I just want to vomit.

This is all a tremendous waste of money and time. Public and private. To what end? Sad

    Ridiculous.

Wish I could see all the emails that went back and forth regarding his request for a name correction. And while I agree that this guy has gone completely overboard in his actions, could they have not have simply changed the name ? how hard can it be to do that ?

as for this dart league, I think since they lost the name SCDA, they should rename it SCMDA.

For a guy like that the name was more of an excuse to follow his nature than the true cause for his actions... my guess is that if it wasn't his name it would have been something else...

Along with all of that I would think that his response to the issue was a bit strange. If you think an organization is not living up to it's mission statement, you go after the folks (Board of Directors) running the organization. Filing suit against a majority of the members and all of the sponsor bars is a bit of overkill in my opinion.

That's just crazy. It's a game that we all love to play. My name is constantly misspelled and I used to correct people but stopped that when I was... 12. Unreal. I'm surprised they allow any one to play steel tip in So Cal (and I'm from San Bernardino), I've only seen soft tip. Guess that depends on the bar.

Still are a lot of steel-tip players from Santa Barbara County to San Diego County, but guys like this make life difficult for those trying to build the game. Any time you want to play steel or soft tip look us up.

I'll definately look you up. Like I said, I had no idea Steel Tip Darts existed out there until a short while ago. I come home a couple of times a year so I'm going to schedule my next trip around a tournament (and the Bruins playing Kings/Sharks/Ducks) but that won't be until 2013.

Sure thing... with any luck you could make it to the Queen Mary in Feb, or the Pat Murphy in March!

Geeze, the last time I was on the Queen Mary the Spruce Goose was still sitting next to it!!

Yea, that'd be awesome. I'll definately start looking in to going out around those time and will talk to you between time.

I'm glad that guy Zaffina has been stopped. Well at least for now.

Hopefully the injunction will be the step needed to put an end to the madness.

... it was cool when the Spruce Goose was there, but the Queen Mary tourney is still fun.

I love what he's put up on his site for now

This website and its businesses will be “TEMPORARILY” in abeyance
pending one of several decisions regarding the matter of
Southern California Darts Association v. Southern California Darts Association, Inc., et al., USDC CASE NO: 2:12-CV-01899 RGK (JCGx)

Southern California Darts Association, Inc. (an active California corporation - Entity No. C3346472 - See www.sos.ca.gov - Path: Business Programs, Business Entities, Online Services, Business Search, and Search Type)

    and its subsidiaries:

Southern California Darts Association (Document No. 201204274); So Cal Darts Association, So Cal Darts, SCDA Products, and SCDA (Document No. 2011090761 -
    See http://www.lavote.net/CLERK/FBN_Results.cfm)

five active fictitious business names in the County of Los Angeles, California will be complying with the “Preliminary” Injunction granted by the United States District Court in the above-entitled case.

The aforementioned corporation and fictitious businesses’ operations will be in abeyance pending one of the following outcomes: (a) Court’s reconsideration of its Order, (b) a decision by the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, or (c) a final judgment.

This preliminary injunction is the result of the de facto corporation, Southern California Darts Association, Inc. (a suspended California corporation since March 1, 1977 - Entity No. C0516738) asserting a claim of right to the tradename (that bears the names of the parties, as well as, any marks that are associated with this entity).

This defunct corporation for over 35-years has been “temporarily” given renewed life by this preliminary injunction, notwithstanding, the numerous laws that stripped this entity of its powers, rights, and privileges

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He's not giving up just yet
